The rivers in the Malappuram dist. particularly Chaliyar,
Barathappuzha are swollen.
Many part of the district including Nilambur, Areacode were submerged
in flood waters.
Places along the shores of the Chaliyar and Cherupuzha, such as
Areacode, Edavannapara, Keezhuparamb, Cheruvadi, Urungattiry, Kuniyil
were also flooded.
Vehicular traffic on Areekode-Mukkam, Areekode-Cheruvady,
Nilambur-Gudalur,roads was disrupted following flooding
Heavy rain wreaked havoc in the Malappuram district , claiming three
lives and leaving many people homeless..
The worst affected was the north-eastern parts bordering Kozhikode and
Wayanad dist.
The deaths were reported from Areacode, Tirur and Tirunavaya.
Ashraf (25) at Urungattiry near Areacode was electrocuted when he came
in to contact with a broken power line while walking through a paddy
field.
